5/25/23 Request received:
Good morning Manish,
I am reaching out on behalf of my client RxxxMcxxx to see if your organization could assist him with funding towards a sober living home – which will be his first independent housing in a long time.
(not actual picture)
Mr. Mcxxx has been managing substance use disorder and depression for many years. Mr. McCxxx identifies as an alcoholic, and recovery (especially AA) is a part of his everyday life. Mr. Mcxxx, a restaurant worker, experienced a lot of hardship during COVID and became homeless, but over the last 6 months, he has taken huge leaps in his recovery. He completed 100 days at the Salvation Army Men’s Rehab shelter, and after a minor relapse, he got himself into an AA shelter, completed an OSAR assessment and got himself to a 30 day inpatient rehab in Temple which he will complete on June 2. He has also now been accepted to a sober living home in Austin, where he plans to move after completing the rehab program. Once there, he will start looking for work – and he is such a hard worker, I know he will be able to find something. For example, when he was homeless and staying at the ARCH, he started volunteering in their kitchen and was offered a job once he was ready.
I am attaching the sober living home acceptance letter which verifies his rent and move in date, as well as a reference letter from the ARCH homeless shelter for your consideration.
Mr. Mcxxx needs to pay a move in deposit of $200 and first weeks’ rent of $160. Would your organization be able to sponsor him for this or any amount?
Thank you very much for your consideration and for all you do for our community.
Sincerely,
Vxxxxxxx(she/her)

Received a Thank you note :)
Hi Manish,
First, I wanted to share a positive story from your organization’s generosity – our client who you helped with the $200 move in deposit was able to move into his sober living home, and he was offered a job at the shelter that he went through before going to rehab! So he is now housed and employed full-time, and he will be able to pay his ongoing rent with his earnings.
So many of our clients are just one small gesture of help away from changing their circumstances.....
